CIPS to Deliver Vida en el Valle

CIPS Marketing has reached an agreement with the Fresno Bee to deliver the weekly Hispanic publication Vida en el Valle in the San Joaquin Valley.  It was also announced that CIPS will deliver some of the Fresno Bee's TMC product to the outlying areas.

Boyle Heights Beat Launches

A new quarterly Hispanic publication, the Boyles Height Beat is launching this month, June 2011. The publication is a bilingual publication with a distribution of 22,000.  A unique aspect of the publication is that it is being published by fourteen teenagers.

El Hispano News Closes

The El Hispano News, covering the Hispanic community of Albuquerque, New Mexico for the past 45 years, closed the week of June 21st, 2011.

Diario San Diego To Close

Diario San Diego, a Hispanic newspaper covering the San Diego market, has announced that it will close for business June 16th, 2011.  It's website www.diariosandiego.com will close at the end of the month.

Diario was launched in 2005, and had a peak circulation of 30,000 in 2009.

Hoy Fin De Semana to Increase Distribution

The Los Angeles Times Media Group has announced that the Hoy Fin De Semana will increase its distribution from 500k to 700,103 households, and expand from 120 zip codes to 186 zip codes, effective October 2nd, 2010.  The Hoy Fin De Semana is a Hispanic weekend publication that covers Hispanic dominant zip codes in the Los Angeles area.

La Prensa to Expand Distribution

The Riverside Press Enterprise has announced that effective August 1, 2010, it Hispanic publication La Prensa will be increasing its circulation.

• August 1 – San Dimas, Covina, West Covina, Chino and Ontario, additional 10,000 distribution or 74,000 total

• September 15 – Moreno Valley, Perris, Hemet and San Jacinto, additional 10,000 distribution or 84,000 total

• November 1 – Banning, Temecula, Lake Elsinore, San Bernardino and Fontana, additional 10,000 distribution or 94,000 total

• December 15 – Riverside and Rubidoux -10,000

By December 15th we will be distributing 104,000+ copies of La Prensa in this market.

On July 2, 2010, the USA Today Weekend Edition started to distribute with La Prensa, to the entire circulation foot print.

If you are current distributing preprints with La Prensa, please remember to add the additional copies to your August Print schedule. Updated quantities per zone are below, provided by Faye E Sadlon-DiFilippo, Major Accounts Manager of LaPrensa.

La Palma to Cease Publishing

Palm Beach Newspapers announced that it will discontinue La Palma, its Hispanic newspaper, effective July 16, 2010.  Both the print and online version of the publication will cease to exist.

La Palma is a free weekly Spanish publication that was launched in February, 2004.  Palm Beach Newspapers is owned by Cox Media Group, a division of Cox Enterprises.

El Mensajero Changes Page Format

El Mensajero, in San Francisco, recently changed its page format from 5 columns to 6 columns. The new column dimensions are as follows:

Column 1 - 1.4375"
Column 2 – 3.0625"
Column 3 – 4.6875"
Column 4 - 6.3125"
Column 5 – 7.9167"
Column 6 – 9.5625

La Opinion Reduces Page Size

The La Opinion, a Los Angeles based hispanic publication, announced that effective February 17th, 2010, they will reduce their page size from a 50" width to 45.5".

Salt Lake City El Observador Launches

The Deseret News parent company Deseret Management Corp announced plans to launch a 25,000 circulation Hispanic publication the El Observador, starting on February 9th, 2010. The Observador will strive to get to 10,000 paid subscribers, with an additional 15,000 copies being distributed at key rack and bulk drop locations.

La Frontera Ceases Publication

The La Frontera, an hispanic Freedom Newspaper publication covering southern Texas ceased publishing on October 12, 2009.

The El Nuevo Heraldo (Brownsville, TX) has increased its distribution in an attempt to cover the hispanic communities in that area.

El Dia Houston Closes

The El Dia Houston, Houston's daily hispanic newspaper, ceased publishing on August 28, 2009. El Dia's publisher will continue to distribute the free classified La Subasta.
