The New York Observer has announced that it will change its format to a mini-broadsheet on August 24th, 2011.
The print media world is evolving rapidly. Monroe News-Star Shortens the Page
The Monroe News-Star announced that on August 1st, 2011 it reduced its page size by 3", changing it from a 6 col by 21.5" publication to a 6 col by 18.5".

Huntsville Times Reduces to 43"
Advance Publications is planning on reducing the page size of the Huntsville Times to a 43" web, along with upgrading its press this spring. Advance Publications has already made similar size changes with the Birmingham News and Mobile Press Register.

Bonham Publications Merge
The Bonham Journal, a weekly community publication, and the Fannin County Special, a shopper, merged in October 2010. The new merged publication is staying under the name of the Fannin County Special, which now has a distribution of 14,200. The publication has also converted to a broadsheet format.

Dallas Morning News To Convert to Modular Ad Sizes

Hollywood Reporter Up for Some Big Changes
The Hollywood Reporter will be facing some major changes in October 2010. The Reporter will discontinue publishing its print edition five days a week, instead distributing one edition weekly. Its e-edition will remain daily.
The Reporter will also convert to a glossy large magazine format. The content of the publication will also be changing, from an historical trend of promoting studios and the entertainment industry, to covering more news and topical items.

Springfield Republican Reverts to Seven Day, Broadsheet Format
The Springfield Republican will once again be broadsheet format for all seven days of distribution, per Editor & Publisher. The Springfield, Massachusetts publication had switched Monday and Saturday distribution to tabloid format in June of 2009 as a cost-cutting measure.

Alice Echo-News Journal Changes Distribution Days and Page Size
The Alice Echo-News Journal, owned by American Consolidated Media, has cut its distribution days from six days a week to three days a week. The paper will now distribute on Wednesday, Friday and Sunday mornings.
The publication is also changing its page format, switching from broadsheet format to tabloid, and changing its distribution time from evening to morning delivery.

Fort Worth Star-Telegram to Reduce Page Size
The Fort Worth Star-Telegram has announced that effective July 19, 2010 it will reduce its page size to a 44" web. The new column sizes are as follows:

San Diego Union-Tribune Changes Page Size
The San Diego Union-Tribune has announced that it will change its page size to the standard 44" web width effective August 17, 2010.
As a result of this change, preprints may not exceed 11" x 11".

Shaw Suburban Media Changes Page Sizes
Shaw Suburban Media announced that it would change the dimensions of its page size for its daily and weekly publications at the end of March, 2010. The Broadsheet publications will now be: 1 col = 1.75", 2 col = 3.625", 3 col = 5.5", 4 col = 7.735", 5 col = 9.25" and 6 col = 11.125".
The tabloid publications will now be: 1 col = 1.75", 2 col = 3.625", 3 col = 5.5", 4 col = 7.375" and 5 col = 9.25".

The publications to be impacted, and the date of change are as follows:

- Valley Free Press, April 6th
The Midweek will also be changing from a Broadsheet format to a Tabloid format at that time.

La Opinion Reduces Page Size
The La Opinion, a Los Angeles based hispanic publication, announced that effective February 17th, 2010, they will reduce their page size from a 50" width to 45.5".

Macon Telegraph Changes to 44" Web
McClatchy Newspapers announced that the Macon Telegraph, its TMC product the Bibbs Extra and the Warner Robins Rev-Up will convert to a 44" Web on November 17th, 2009.

Tribune Company Switching to 44" Web
The Tribune Company is continuing its effort to standardize the size of all its publications. The Baltimore Sun converted to a 44" Web size in September 2009; the Fort Lauderdale Sun Sentinel and Orlando Sentinel are scheduled to make the same switch in mid-December 2009.
According to Audrea Fulton, Vice President of National Retail Sales the remainder of the Tribune Company publications will make the conversion to 44" Web in early 2010, with the exact conversion timeline yet determined.
