Two New South Dakota Publications

The Garretson Gazette and the Native Sun News both recently became legal newspapers under South Dakota law, after having been launched in 2009, per the Madison Daily Leader.

The Garretson Gazette is a weekly publication with a distribution of approximately 550, and is published by Matt Anderson.

The Native Sun News is a Wednesday publication targeted at Native Americans in Western South Dakota, with a weekly distribution of approximately 5,500.

Huntsville Times Reduces to 43"

Advance Publications is planning on reducing the page size of the Huntsville Times to a 43" web, along with upgrading its press this spring.  Advance Publications has already made similar size changes with the Birmingham News and Mobile Press Register.

Episcopalian Publications Close

The Episcopal Church has announced that it will cease publishing the Episcopal News Monthly and the Episcopal News Quarterly effective January 2011.  The two publications have a combined distribution of approximately 100,000.  The last editions of both publications will be completed shortly before Christmas.

Robertson County Newspapers Merges Publications

Robertson County Newspapers (TX) recently merged four publications into the newly named Robertson County News.  The four publications are the Hearne Democrat, Franklin Advocate, Calvert Tribune, and Robertson County Booster.

Columbia College to Cease Publishing Columbian

Columbia College has announced it will cease publishing the collegiate paper Columbian when the Fall 2010 semester ends.  The college cites declining enrollement in the coursework associated with production of the Columbian as being a primary reason.

The Columbian has been in publication since 1969.

The Bakersfield Californian has announced it is moving its TMC program distribution to CIPS Marketing effective January 2011.  The Californian had changed its TMC product back in February 2010.

Pioneer Press to Close Seven Publications

Chicago's Sun-Times Media Holdings has announced it will close seven of its Pioneer Press weekly publications effective December 23, 2010, per ChicagoBusiness.com.  The seven publications, located in the northern and western suburbs of Chicago include:  the Antioch Review, Edison-Norwood Times Review, Elmhurst Doings, Grayslake Review, Gurnee Review, Proviso Herald, and the Review for Lake Villa & Lindenhurst.

Vincennes Sun Commercial Changes Distribution Time and Days

The Vincennes Sun Commercial, the oldest publication in the state of Indiana, will change from evening delivery to morning delivery effective December 11th, 2010.  At the same time, the Commercial will cease Monday delivery and start a Saturday delivery.

Presbyterian Voice Ends Print Edition

The Presbyterian Voice, a publication about and for the Presbyterian church and the Synod of Living Waters, will cease publication of its printed edition after the first week of March 2011.  The Voice cited the hard economic times combined with the cost of printing versus the ease of electronic delivery as being the primary reasons.

The Voice will continue on with its online edition.

Hood County News Changes Distribution Method and TMC Delivery

The Hood County News changed from 100% mail delivery to mail and carrier delivery on October 13th, 2010.  At the same time, it changed the distribution day of its TMC product, the Hood County News Plus, from Tuesday to Wednesday distribution.
