Gay Chicago, an gay entertainment weekly in the Chicago area, switched from weekly distribution to bi-weekly distribution on September 21st, 2011.
The print media world is evolving rapidly. Newspapers and magazines are changing their areas and methods of distribution, frequency, consolidating titles, converting to web only products and closing publications. Emerging titles are filling in some of these gaps in the print landscape. ACGMedia strives to keep its clients and vendors updated on these changes within the evolving print media environment.

Chicago Free Press Closes
The Chicago Free Press, a gay and lesbian publication, ceased publishing on April 29, 2010 due to lack of funding from publisher David Costanzo, who is suffering from health problems. The Free Press had a weekly distribution of approximately 23,000.

Washington Blade Reopens for Business
The Washington Blade, a gay and lesbian publication covering the Washington D.C. area, will resume publishing on Friday April 30th, 2010, under new ownership. The publication was previously owned by Windows Media and was closed down suddenly in November 2009.
The Blade is anticipating distribution of 25,000 copies.

Southern Voice and Atlanta David Reopen
The Southern Voice reopened on April 14th under new ownership, Matt Neumann. The gay and lesbian oriented publication closed down for business in November 2009 when Window Media filed for bankruptcy. The publication will start out with 10,000 copies with an eventual goal of 20,000.
The Atlanta David, which also had closed last November, was also purchased by Mr. Neumann, and relaunched in March 2010.

Washington Blade & Southern Voice Closes
The Washington Blade, a gay and lesbian publication closed suddenly on November 16th, 2009. The Blade had a weekly distribution of 23,000 in the Washington D.C. area.
The paper is owned by Window Media, which also ceased publication of the Southern Voice, Atlanta David, South Florida Blade, and 411 Magazine, per the Washington Post.
